Climatic Skin by ASYMPTOTE

yes... another Abu Dhabi project...
The YAS Hotel is a collaborative project between Hani Rashid from ASYMPTOTE with ARUP. This project has again taken a 'climatic skin' like a blanket covering and creating a controlled environment.
Well, if the Black Oil can afford to pay this kind of ROOFchitecture... go for it man....
I do find buildings that carries a dual nature of design form to be interesting. In this case, I think the roof's geometry over took whatever the what's below. However, the roof responds to a much wider context in terms of its form, scale and aesthetics. Especially with the lights on at night.

Have they worked out a way to get the glass panels clean?

Base on the form, I find in hard to believe all these unique panels are all planar, especially the ones on top of the bridge.

Anyway.. well done~!
